N+I Shownet NLA2 report 2000

Network Name

N+I Shownet

History

In Networld+Interop(N+I) 2000 Tokyo, which is held in the Convention Center(Makuhari Messe) in 2000.6.7-9, fully supported IPv6 backbone as following was provided.

Network Topology

The IPv6 backbone of N+I Shownet was constructed separately from the IPv4 backbone.
To the users(exhibitors and visitors), both reachability of IPv6 and IPv4 were available on each network medium.

Routing

To the hosts, default route was advertised by RA.
Between the backbone routers and the routers of exhibition companies, default route and subnet routes were exchanged by RIPng.

Address Assignment

Address prefixes were assigned according to the purposes, and were advertised with RA.

Prefix purpose
2001:0200:0123:0000::/56 Backbone
2001:0200:0123:0100::/56 Ethernet(Hall 1-3)
2001:0200:0123:0200::/56 Ethernet(Hall 7,8)
2001:0200:0123:0300::/56 Ethernet(Hall 4-6)
2001:0200:0123:0400::/56 IPv6 ShowCase
2001:0200:0123:1000::/52 ADSL
2001:0200:0123:2000::/52 Terminal Cluster

Four exhibition companies which demanded the subnetwork were provided with a prefix with a length of 60-64 bits, respectively.

Prefix Exhibition Company
2001:0200:0123:0380::/64 A
2001:0200:0123:1080::/60 B
2001:0200:0123:1090::/64 C
2001:0200:0123:10a0::/64 D

Trouble

Since the notices of the prefixes assigned to the exhibition companies were mistaken, a prefix of the subnetworks overlapped.
Consequently, the problem that reachability was lost for either two corresponding subnetworks arose.
